The very big jet engine on the back provides thrust. Duh.
The three (poorly drawn) lines on the front are intakes for that engine. It can be very easy to get something jammed in there.
On the bottom (right) view, you can see the three hoverpads that provide lift. The main large one is the one that maintains/increases altitude and keeps the craft level. The two on the fins are used for banking and so on.
Not seen in these views (because they flip out of the body only when necessary) are the headlights and the retro engines, which are also hover pads, but which point forwards.
Glide mode temporarily turns off the main engine and hover pad, but this is a feature rarely utilized. It's a bit like stalling a plane.
I know there aren't any landing gear, but with the VTOL, it's never really posed a problem.
